How Our Bespoke Fitted Furniture Process Works

Creating truly bespoke fitted furniture is a collaborative journey. From the first conversation through to the final installation, our approach is centred around understanding your vision and bringing it to life through thoughtful design and skilled craftsmanship. Each project moves through a carefully structured process that ensures every detail is considered and executed to the highest standard.

Stage 1 – Initial Enquiry & Understanding Your Vision

Every project begins with a conversation.

When you first get in touch, we take the time to listen to your ideas, the space you’re working with, and what you’d like the finished furniture to achieve within your home. Whether you already have a clear concept in mind or you’re simply exploring possibilities, this stage is all about understanding your vision.

Alongside discussing your ideas, we can also introduce you to our own collection of door styles and cabinet designs, which we have personally developed through years of experience crafting bespoke interiors. These designs provide a refined starting point for many projects, while still allowing for complete customisation in layout, materials and finishes.

We’ll ask questions, take notes and offer advice based on our experience designing and building bespoke interiors. Often clients bring inspiration images, plans or rough ideas, and we help translate those into something practical, beautiful and tailored to the space.

This first stage lays the foundation for the entire project.

Stage 2 – Initial Estimate & Concept Design

Once we have a clear understanding of the project, we prepare an initial estimate along with a concept design for the furniture.

The concept stage allows us to explore the layout and overall look of the piece, ensuring it works both practically and aesthetically within the room. At this stage we consider proportions, storage requirements and how the furniture will integrate with the surrounding interior.

The estimate provides a clear indication of the project investment so you can decide whether you’d like to move forward to the next stage of design development.

Stage 3 – Estimate Approval & Advanced Design

Once the estimate is approved, we move into the more detailed design phase and take a deposit to secure your project in our schedule.

This is where the design really begins to take shape. We work closely with you to refine every detail — from the layout and proportions through to the materials, finishes and colour palette.

Together we select elements such as:

  • Cabinet materials and construction
  • Door styles and detailing
  • Paint colours or timber finishes
  • Handles, hardware and internal fittings

This collaborative stage ensures the finished furniture feels perfectly tailored to your home and personal style.

Stage 4 – Design Approval & Workshop Manufacturing

Once the design is finalised and approved, your project moves into production. At this stage we provide a lead time of approximately 6–8 weeks, during which your furniture moves through several important phases.

Our team produces detailed technical drawings and manufacturing information including cut lists and CAD/CAM files. These allow us to manufacture every component with precision in our Essex-based workshop.

From there the build process begins:

  • Panels are precision cut and edged
  • Doors and cabinetry components are manufactured
  • Cabinets are dry assembled to ensure perfect fit and alignment
  • Doors and hardware are test fitted

For painted furniture, all components are professionally spray finished in our finishing booth. The paint is then left to cure properly, allowing it to fully harden and achieve a durable, flawless finish.

Once complete, all panels are carefully wrapped and protected before the cabinetry is disassembled and prepared for delivery to site.

Stage 5 – Installation & Final Handover

The final stage is bringing everything together within your home.

Our team carefully installs the furniture on site, ensuring floors, walls and surrounding areas are fully protected during the process. Each piece is precisely fitted to the space to achieve the seamless, built-in finish that bespoke furniture is known for.

Once installation is complete we carry out a full clean down of the furniture and the work area, hoovering and preparing the space for handover.

Finally, we walk through the completed project with you to ensure everything meets expectations and sign off the installation — leaving you with beautifully crafted fitted furniture designed specifically for your home.
