Project Brief

This kitchen was part of a wider project we were involved in, forming a 2-story extension for a client. The brief was very important as the clients had been saving up for this renovation for over a decade.

The existing kitchen was cramped and poorly laid out, so we had to make sure everything was thought of and planned well, so they could finally get the space and functionality they deserved.

Project Execution

Project Run-Through:

Following a focused design consultation, I sent the brief and site measurements to my designer at Howdens, where the clients had chosen their desired kitchen.

The initial design and layout were spot-on, with only a few appliance upgrades needed for added functionality—such as a dual-zone oven for cooking multiple meals simultaneously. We confirmed the full schedule of works with the clients, which was critical as the kitchen had to be completed in time for Christmas dinner. Delays weren’t an option due to supplier and trade shutdowns over the festive period.

We provided granite samples, and the clients chose “Angola Black” for its deep, textured finish. We managed the entire project, liaising with all trades to ensure a smooth process. First-fix electrics and plumbing were completed ahead of cabinetry delivery.

Once the cabinetry was installed, the granite was templated, cut, and fitted the following week. The project concluded with appliance connections, Karndean LVT flooring, and final decoration.

A timeless kitchen style that will never go out of fashion, finished in cashmere, ensures it will always fit in well with the current interior décor and colours.

This was the flagship range from Howdens with solid ash 22mm doors spray-finished. It was a compliment to hear that the clients were not only over the moon with the quality of the installation but also that we had captured their every request in terms of layout and functionality for a family to cook which had greatly improved their everyday life.

The clients also commented on how much of an improvement it was whilst hosting friends and family for dinner, with the new island creating a great social area which also allowed the food and drinks to be presented away from the dining table.
