Italian Porcelain Patio

Once we had liaised and finalised the slab and jointing colours, it was time to begin preparing the groundworks for patio laying. Our client wanted to create a flush threshold look for the rear bifold door, so this required some pre-planning and liaison with building control to ensure it was up to current regulations and signed off.

We achieved this by installing a slimline drain along the perimeter of the property, ensuring that no surface water would sit against the property and potentially penetrate the footings and damp proof course. Digging began in the giant area, and levels were identified and marked out, ready for the base to be prepared. Once our base has been prepped, levelled and compacted, we begin laying the porcelain slabs.

With a team of three men, we had a production line for mixing, priming, and laying, and within a few days, we had the main area laid before moving on to the perimeter upstands, and eventually finishing off by fitting the jointing compounds.
