Project Brief
This staircase renovation formed part of a larger project for a returning customer. We had first worked at the property back in 2022, completing bespoke wall panelling, and were delighted to be invited back to take on the next stage of the renovation.
This time, we were tasked with designing and renovating the staircase to create a striking feature at the centre of the home. The design needed to complement the traditional and intricate woodwork already introduced throughout the property, including the “Book Room Green” wall panelling and oak flooring.

Project Execution
Project Run-Through:
To ensure the staircase complemented the traditional style of the property, we sourced solid oak handrails and stepped spindles to match the stepped mouldings of the Art Deco panelling.
We offered three oak oil samples, tested on offcuts, to see which finish best suited the chosen paint colour—Little Greene’s Book Room Green. Using CAD visuals, we presented our staircase design and explained our reasoning behind the material choices to help the client clearly visualise the result.
The installation took place in two stages: the first fix involved fitting the staircase structure—treads, risers, and newel posts—for site access before plastering. We protected these components with foam and waterproof sheeting throughout the build.
The second fix, completed post-plastering, included fitting the handrails, spindles, newel caps, and other finishing details. We then sanded all oak elements and applied Osmo Polyx Satin Clear oil, which not only protects the wood but enhances its grain and natural warmth.
Project Completion
Bringing the Vision to Life
A truly incredible looking staircase, our patience and efforts in hand selecting the perfect items to bring together in creating this feature staircase really paid off.
The imposing look with the double feature step, and the colours of the oiled oak against the spray finished wall panelling, works even better than we imagined. The staircase brings a very magnificent and luxurious feel to the hallway and landing which you don’t get in most homes.
Our clients were again very impressed with the finished product and our commitment to working together to capture and improve on their exact ideas.
Client Testimonial
“We’re so pleased with the new staircase. It works perfectly with the wall panelling Ryan completed for us previously and really brings the whole space together.”
